2. Brought up contrast a lil with an adjustment layer
and moved the green fill layer to below the colours.
Hard to tell if it's now too dark in the figures!
1. Been working on this for FanExpo in August. 95%! Need
help with the last 5.
crits / suggestions / opinions ?
I would try lightening the background color, looks a little muddy. Maybe just try messing around with contrast and brightness, make the image pop a little more. Other than that it's pretty darn cool Ian!
ReplyDeleteThe color is looking better for sure!
ReplyDeleteUpon a second view, there are some strange anatomical and foreshortening issues happening here, mostly with Zelda, her head is a little big. Nothing worth changing on this image because it looks pretty good. Just something to watch out for in the future.
Cool stuff Ian!
Hey Ian! This is looking sweet, can't go wrong with a fight scene.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Andrew that the colours are a little muddy, I think it's because you've put the texture on top of everything. Maybe select a few areas to remove texture from (i.e put those colour blocks on top of the texture or erase texture from those colour blocks) to give the texture a more intentional/selective feel. It's something I'm always struggling with. Sam Bosma is a dude who does some cool stuff with texture, check out his blog, he is really awesome about posting his process from start to finish. You might also like his monster-y stuff ;)
Here are a couple of minor suggestions re: zelda's face and Link's leg:

Thanks for the comments guys! I'll get to work on those suggestions you made Alexis, I think they are really good ones. Esp for Zelda!
ReplyDeleteI've seen Bosma's stuff before, and love that he puts so much process work on his blog. I'll take a look again and see what I can about his use of texture.
